# Papiers > Documentation for Papiers: the desktop app, the Chrome extension, and the CLI. Papiers is a desktop reading and research workspace for Mac, Windows, and Ubuntu, with a Chrome extension for saving from the browser and a read-only CLI for agents. You save papers (PDFs), web articles, and X posts into one library, read and highlight them, write notes, ask questions of an AI assistant that cites the source, and search everything you have saved. These pages document every feature. Each page is also served as Markdown at its URL with a `.md` suffix, and the complete documentation is concatenated in /llms-full.txt. ## Getting started Learn the basic Papiers workflow and how the Library, Workspace, and Home fit together. - [Quickstart](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/quickstart.md): Papiers is a workspace for reading, researching, and working with AI. - [Library & workspace](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/workspace.md): Papiers has three main views: Home, the Library, and the Workspace. Move between them depending on whether you want to ask, find, or read. ## Build your library Bring papers, articles, PDFs, posts, and your existing reading into Papiers. - [Save to Papiers](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/save.md): Add papers, articles, PDFs, and X posts to your library. Drop in files, paste a link, save from Chrome, import from Zotero, or sync your X bookmarks. - [Chrome extension](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/chrome-extension.md): The Papiers extension lets you save what you’re already reading in Chrome, and highlight articles without leaving the page. - [Import from Zotero](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/zotero.md): Bring your Zotero library into Papiers with the highlights and notes you’ve already made. - [Sync X bookmarks](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/x-bookmarks.md): Connect one or more X accounts and bring your bookmarks into Papiers. ## Read & think Read across formats, highlight what you want to remember, and keep notes alongside the source. - [Reading](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/reading.md): Papiers adapts the reading experience to what you’re reading, whether it’s a paper, article, or thread. - [Highlights & notes](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/highlights-and-notes.md): Papiers lets you keep what you read together with what you think about it. ## Ask & understand Work through what you’re reading with AI, explore academic papers with Atlas, and turn them into presentations. - [Ask Papiers](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/ask.md): Chat sits beside what you’re reading, so you can bring the source directly into the conversation. - [Atlas](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/atlas.md): Atlas takes an academic paper and builds a broader view around it. - [Presentations](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/presentations.md): Papiers can turn an academic paper into a presentation as part of its Atlas. ## Find & revisit Search across everything you’ve read, highlighted, written, and asked about. - [Search](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/search.md): Papiers supports semantic and multimodal search over your entire library. ## Share & extend Share the parts of your reading you found interesting, or give your agents access to your library. - [Share what you read](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/share.md): A Share Card collects the parts of something you found interesting. - [Use Papiers with agents](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/agents.md): Papiers lets agents read your library from the terminal. ## Reference Shortcuts, account and data controls, and fixes when something isn’t working. - [Keyboard shortcuts](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/keyboard-shortcuts.md): Papiers uses the same shortcut layout on Mac, Windows, and Ubuntu. Most shortcuts use ⌘ on Mac and Ctrl on Windows and Ubuntu. - [Account & data](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/account.md): Papiers syncs your library across devices and keeps local copies of what you need to read offline. - [Troubleshooting](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs/troubleshooting.md): Most problems in Papiers tell you what went wrong and what to do next. The common fixes are below. ## Optional - [Complete documentation](https://wiki.papiers.ai/llms-full.txt): every page below in one file - [Docs home](https://wiki.papiers.ai/docs): the same pages as a website - [Pricing](https://wiki.papiers.ai/pricing): Free, Plus, and Pro plans - [Download](https://wiki.papiers.ai/desktop): installers for Mac, Windows, and Ubuntu - [Privacy policy](https://wiki.papiers.ai/privacy) - [Terms of use](https://wiki.papiers.ai/terms)
